About The Cowgirl Way
The Cowgirl Way is comprised of women of all ages and backgrounds who share a common love of horses and a dedication to the community.
Since it's inception in 1999, The Cowgirl Way has supported its community through trail clean ups, fund raisers and community events. In 2000 the Cowgirl Way formed an alliance with "Breast Cancer Survivors," a group whose sole purpose is to put desperately needed money into the hands of actual victims of breast cancer. The women selected to receive these funds are women with no other means of income to survive on during their recovery period. This money pays for rent, food, medicine, and the many other common necessities of daily life. The Cowgirl Way is very proud to have donated over $25,000 to this great cause.
The Cowgirl Way competes in Equestrian Drill Competitions, performs at rodeos (including half time shows and sponsor flag presentations), fairs, parades, charity, and other special events. However, we're not all business! We schedule group trail rides, camp-outs (with our horses of course!), calf sorting, BBQ's, and anything for fun that includes our families and our horses.
We are always looking for dedicated women interested in joining our team. To try out for the drill performances, we ask only that you are an intermediate to experienced rider at least 18 years of age and own or lease your own horse (at least 14.2 hands and, sorry, NO gaited horses or stallions). No experience in drill is required for you or your horse, but you must be willing to accept direction and have a great time. The Cowgirl Way holds practice at Frodsham Farms on Hillside Avenue (just South of River) in Norco, every Thursday night (weather permitting).
In December of 2002 The Cowgirl Way decided to incorporate Wild BLM Mustangs into their drill. As of December 2006, Cowgirl Way team members have adopted over 24 BLM Wild Mustangs. They have been used for the drill, parades, trail riding, gymkhana, camping at the beach, obstacles course competition and various other events. They have proven to be very versatile.
We would like to extend our thanks and sincere appreciate to our friends at Laguna Woods Equestrian Center for their generous support of the Cowgirl Way and Breast Cancer Survivors.
